Who Needs Rescuing?

Life is full of troubles, isn't it?  It seems that as you get over one trial,  another is waiting close behind.  When I was a young teen, I remember thinking that as I turned 25 or so, life would be smooth sailing.   I remember asking my older sister at what age life settled down.  Her reply was "never"!

Now at 50, I do agree that life indeed is filled with trouble.   However, troubles don't have to take all your joy.  When you are a Christian (someone who receives Christ as their Savior and follows Him) the fruit of the Spirit can be present no matter what you face. Galatians 5 tells us the fruit of the Spirit is:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  When Christ fills our hearts with His Spirit we have the ability to overcome hard times.    Psalm 34:19 tells us that the righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to rescue each time.   Now, I can hear someone say......"Well, that's awesome for the righteous but I'm not good enough to fall into that category."  I've got good news for you!   You cannot be righteous on your own at all.  No matter how hard you try.  However, you can let Christ make you righteous by receiving His sacrifice for you. He lived a sinless life, died and rose again for us to have hope and a new life.

No matter what you are facing today, know that as a child of God, He will rescue you.  You may envision your rescue to look a certain way.  You may feel like God doesn't care for you. You may doubt He will really rescue you.  However, He truly loves you and He keeps His promises.  Look to Christ for every need you have.  He is faithful.

Praying for you,
