Power Down and Unplug

Each notification on my phone brings some kind of report; some good and some bad.  I am well-trained to respond to the familiar sound that notifies me of a new message.   I couldn't imagine life with a cell phone before and now I can't imagine life with out one.  My phone is my connection to  others.   On the other hand, what if suddenly all cell phones and computers were gone?  What would our life consist of?  What would our normal routine look like?

When was the last time you sat quietly and watched a sunset?  When was the last time you rocked your grand-baby with no sound besides your own voice singing?  When was the last time you and your family played a board game?  When was the last time you went a whole day without looking at your phone, social media or news?

I believe as a society we are really craving quiet and peace.  I believe that our minds are over-loaded with info and news. One part of the Holy Spirit's fruit is peace.  When was the last time you felt peace?  As we enter this weekend celebrating Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, I want to encourage you to "unplug" and be still.  Let God fill our hearts with His Word and His fruit.

Have a peaceful weekend!
