Happy 2020

I have no doubt today that God loves me.  However about 20 years ago I had alot of doubt of His love and concern for me.  I couldn't wrap my mind around how He could love imperfect me with all my failures. No matter how I felt however,  He loved me period. After becoming a mom, I had more insight and understanding about how unconditional love worked. Even when my sons made mistakes or choices that hurt me, I still loved them deeply.  As much as I feel it is crucial to accept and receive God's unconditional love for yourself, I also feel it's crucial that we understand this life is not about us.  God does love us but he wants what is best for us and it might not always be to be happy.  What??  Yes, that is true.  Sin hurts us and if God allowed us to continue to be happy in sin we wouldn't see a need for change.  As a child of God, we will not be happy living in a way that mocks Him and His Word.  We often run after and chase things that have nothing to do with Christ.  We seek our own goals, our own desires, our own fame and our own happiness without seeking God's direction for our life.  However, true contentment and love is found only in Christ.

In this world there are many things that vie for our attention and try to control our thoughts; cell phones, games, books, computers, podcasts etc.  However, as we prepare to end 2019 and begin 2020, I want to encourage you to seek the Lord with all your heart.  Take time to seek His will for your life and not just what you feel is best.  True peace and joy begins by trusting the God that loves us and knows us more than anyone else in this world.  Let 2020 be the year you surrender all to God and trust His provision for all your needs.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously and He will give you ever thing you need. Matthew 6:33
