Most of us have heard of the scripture in Psalms 46 that says to be still and know that He is God. However, what does it mean to you personally?
I can remember a certain time in my life in which I made a wrong choice . Although I received God's forgiveness, I knew that there would still be consequences. I could of walked in many different directions, but by the grace of God, I kept my eyes on God and his forgiveness and grace. He was faithful and placed Godly people in my life to encourage me to press on. Nonetheless, I walked through some very dark days. I would often battle anxiety and worry. However, that is when I first learned how to "be still and know that (He) is God." Some days I felt that it was hopeless and wouldn't ever get better...BUT God. See, God knows all things...my wrong choice was no surprise to Him. His love for me did not change. I'm sure, as most parents would be, He was sad watching me walk that path. Finally, I decided to surrender everything to Him: my failures, my fears, my sadness, my enemies, etc. All I could do was to depend on Him to guide me day by day. What a great place to be! It is when we realize our total dependence on God and trust Him, that we can "be still" and know He is God. He can make a way where there is not a way. He can make beauty out of ashes. (Isaiah 61:3)
I don't know where you are in your life today. You may be on a mountain top, or you may be in the deepest valley you have ever been in. You may be full of joy, however, you may be so overwhelmed with sadness that you don't feel like getting up. Regardless of where you are, God loves you and has a plan for you. As you talk to Him and surrender to Him all the pain or even all the joy; you then, can rest assured that He is working things out in your life. (Romans 8:28) He can forgive you and help you walk through the consequences of any mistakes you might have made. (1 John 1:9, Psalms 23) Nothing or no one can separate you from His love for you! (Romans 8:29-37)
Even in a world where each hour brings more disturbing and disheartening news, we can "be still" and know He is our God and He is in control. Let Him be your strength today!
