Each day we are given a choice: live by God's Word or let emotions, the world, and people dictate how you live. However, God's way of living leads to true peace. Through out God's word we are given instructions for victory in Christ. The steps to walk in God's peace are right in His Word. Philippians 4:6-9 says: Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ. Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me- everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you! In these scriptures, God's word clearly tells us not to worry but to pray, tell Him your needs, and to be thankful for all He has done and will do! I know in my personal life, it is really hard to be discouraged and to have a thankful heart at the same time. Yes, there are negative things all around us. Yes, there is bad news every where we turn! Yes, things are not always how we want them to be! Does that change God and Who He is? No! He is faithful; Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever! (Hebrews 13:8)
I know it is hard to put aside our emotions and stand solely on God's word. However, if we want true freedom, God's word MUST be our truth and foundation. I want to encourage you today to put Philippians 4:6-9 in action; stop worrying, start praying, and count your blessings, and think on good things! Have a marvelous Monday!
